Key concepts

A Task Hub is a named, saved view of work items. It has:

  • a scope, which decides which work items it includes
  • configuration: columns, swimlanes, quick filters, card layout, colors and calendar settings
  • access settings: who can view it and who can change it

A space can have any number of Task Hubs. Each one lives in a home space, where it appears in the Task Hub picker, even when its scope covers other spaces.

Scope Includes Good for
This space Work items in the home space, optionally filtered with JQL Team boards, workstreams within one space
Across multiple spaces Results of any JQL query Programs, shared services, leadership views

Task Hub always applies your Jira permissions on top of the scope. If you can’t see a work item in Jira, you won’t see it in a Task Hub.

Every Task Hub can be shown as a Board, List, Calendar, Timeline or Summary. Switch views with the tabs at the top. Filters you apply carry across views.

Who Can view Can configure
Jira admins All Task Hubs Yes
Space admins (of the home space) All Task Hubs in the space Yes
Task Hub Administrator Yes Yes
Task Hub Member Yes, including private Task Hubs No
Everyone else who can browse the space Public Task Hubs only No

Anyone who can view a Task Hub can create, edit, move and comment on work items, as far as their Jira permissions allow. See Access & roles.

Task Hub works with software, business and Jira Service Management spaces, both company-managed and team-managed. In JSM spaces you can group and color requests by request type.

Task Hub doesn’t change or replace Jira boards, filters or workflows. It reads your work items and updates them through the standard Jira APIs. When you move a card, the work item transitions in Jira just as it would anywhere else.
